Charlotte, North Carolina is a largely populated city that only continues flourishing. With its popularity, the city contains an expansive highway system where thousands of cars emit pollution on a daily basis. For my senior thesis, I identified the issue of environmental injustice in the Charlotte area, inspired by the history of air pollution in the Historic West End due to redlining and segregation. Green Up is a brand I crafted that helps educate the public on the issue of environmental injustice and encourages action and change within the Charlotte community. The three products of this brand are a billboard, a social media campaign, and a website. The branding utilizes vibrant colors to emphasize a clean, earthy feeling that further motivates viewers to strive to be more environmentally conscious.
